Top Tips for visiting a Pumpkin Patch

  • This is an outdoor event so dress for the weather. Wellies are a good idea because the field can get muddy.
  • Wear long trousers and sleeves if you can. Most of the pumpkin patches are not sprayed so there will be insects and weeds.
  • The pumpkin stalks are prickly so wearing gloves may be a good idea.
  • Most pumpkin patches won’t be suitable for wheelchairs or buggys, check before you book/turn up.
  • Not all pumpkin patches allow dogs, check before you bring them. Also, some patches may require a ticket for them!
  • Many farms sell the pumpkins by size or weight, check before you let the kids loose!
  • Always double check the pumpkin patch website before you leave for opening times. Also, some require booking a time slot online beforehand.

FAQ

When’s the best time to go pumpkin picking?

Usually from late September through to the end of October. Don’t leave it too late though, go earlier in October for the best selection of pumpkins, as the supply is limited and demand is high, especially around the October half-term.
