Free Bus Travel for Kids this Easter

Getting out and about this Easter is even easier (and cheaper!) for families across the region. From 3rd–19th April 2026, children under 16 can enjoy completely FREE bus travel across Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, this “Kids Go Free” scheme means there’s no need to book or plan ahead, children can simply hop on and travel for free on most local bus services throughout the holidays.

It’s a great way to explore Easter events, parks, museums and attractions without worrying about transport costs, perfect for making the most of your family days out this spring.

National Trust Easter Events in Somerset 2026

Some of the best things to do at Easter with kids can be found at a National Trust property. The National Trust are offering an Easter Trail at most of their locations across the county. Our favourite properties are Tyntesfield in North Somerset and Stourhead on the Wiltshire/Somerset border. There is always lots to explore and you can make a day of it.

Step into a world of wonder this Easter with an Alice in Wonderland–themed Easter Trail. Solve riddles and puzzles, take part in playful physical activities, and kids will enjoy dressing up as their favourite Wonderland characters.

Price: £3.50 per trail map with bunny ears and edible prize at the end. Collect maps from the gazebo by the cafe.

Enjoy a day out this Easter in Somerset with a popular trail featuring 10 Easter-themed activity stations, including an egg-and-spoon race, egg decorating and a wheelbarrow race.

Easter Egg Trails and Easter Activities for kids in Somerset

When: Friday 3rd April to Sunday 19th April 2026. (Tobogganing: Age 4-12) £9.00 – £15.00

Half an hour tobogganing followed by an Easter-themed orienteering adventure. Set off on an Easter hunt around the activity centre and woodland! Use your Easter egg map to find the checkpoints and claim a stamp from each one. Once you have found them all, head to the Alpine lounge where all tobogganers receive an Easter treat whilst over looking our ski slope.

Plus, the Easter Bunny is hopping by to sprinkle extra egg-citement on activities like Archery, Air Rifle, Axe Throwing, Caving and more. Hit your targets, follow clues on scenic trails, discover deep-hidden treasures or simply enjoy the fresh air. Add a sweet touch to this year’s celebrations with a little adventure!

Come along for a great Family Day Out at the Easter Steam Up at Westonzoyland Pumping Station Museum. Museum in full Steam with over 30 Stationary Steam Engines and Pumps on Display. Free Eggtastic Quiz with  Easter Prizes for the Kids and the Cafe will be open serving a range of light snacks, homemade cakes and hot drinks.

Extend your day out with a circular walk at National Trust Burrow Mump with stunning views over the Somerset Levels and along the River Parrett.

Enjoy a day at the station with an Easter theme including a Treasure Hunt for children. The Easter Hunt is included and a special prize will be given to all those completing the activity sheet and returning it to the station shop. Keep an eye open as there might even be a visit from the Easter Bunny.

The museum is well worth a visit and don’t forget the World War 2 Pillbox at the top of the hill and the Anderson Shelter next to the museum.

This is a lovely low-key Easter activity in Somerset, especially if you’re planning a coastal day out with little ones.

Afterwards, why not enjoy lunch in the Glass Box on the pier, or have an ice cream from The Pagoda Cafe.

For a unique Easter day out, the North Somerset Bird of Prey Centre is opening its doors on Sunday 5th April 2026, a great chance to explore this fantastic wildlife centre.

Unlike their usual experience days, Open Days give visitors full access to the centre, where you can meet over 60 birds of prey alongside a variety of other animals including foxes, meerkats, reptiles, skunks and even a binturong.

There’s plenty to enjoy throughout the day, with talks, animal handling and activities all included in the ticket price, making it great value for families.

This Easter, an egg-citing adventure awaits beneath the surface in the Illuminated Cave!

Head to Cheddar Gorge this Easter school holidays, and step into 50 years of Aardman magic, mischief and marvelous clay as Gough’s Cave is transformed into a spectacular illuminated trail. 

Deep underground, the cave will become a glowing, immersive experience celebrating the much-loved characters of Aardman. From cheeky heroes to unforgettable friends, beautifully illuminated lanterns bring to life some of the most iconic scenes from the past five decades.

Explorers of all ages can follow the illuminated trail through Gough’s Cave, crack the code to receive an Easter treat, and uncover cool facts about the Aardman lantern scenes.

Afterwards, join in the fun Aardman-themed Easter arts and craft activities throughout the day.

Wells, Somerset, BA5 2PD

When: Friday 3rd –Sunday 19th April 2026, 9.30am – 5.30pm.

Little adventurers can embark on an Easter trail throughout the gardens, get creative with the Art Adventurers and Nature Ninjas family crafting sessions and marvel at the breath-taking falconry displays on the 11th April.

Join the new Easter Trail where you will get to meet the Easter Bunny himself at his New Burrow!! Pick up an activity sheet, pop on your bunny ears (included in price) and hop off around the farm to complete your activity sheet and see the baby animals on the way. Visit the Easter Bunny at his Burrow to collect your Easter reward at the end. Plus, there’s tractor trailer rides. 

The Ice Cream Parlour will be open, serving hot and cold drinks, ice cream and some savoury snacks.

Meet the farm animals, jump into the straw pool (Opening on Good Friday), have fun in the play barn (fees apply), have afternoon tea with an Easter themed twist or an Easter Sunday roast. Join in with an Easter egg hunt around the park. The witch loves to celebrate Easter at Wookey Hole. Every child will take home an Easter treat (included with usual admission prices). There are three circus shows a day as well as adventure golf, a 4D cinema and the caves to explore.

Join in with the Easter trail at Wraxall through the vineyard. On Friday and Saturday there will be their normal menu which includes standard sharing dishes and pizzas for the little ones.

It’s back again this year!

Families will follow trails around the Bradley Stoke area to search for hidden letters displayed on decorated Easter eggs. Once all the letters have been found, children can try to spell out the Easter word or phrase.

On completion of the trails, families can bring their completed answer sheets to The Willow Brook Centre to receive an Easter surprise for their children.

Climb aboard one of Bristol’s most iconic attractions this spring for The Great Egg Hunt at SS Great Britain.

This fun, family-friendly trail sees a playful colony of penguins hiding six colourful eggs around the ship – can you find them all? As you explore, you’ll also uncover the fascinating story of the ship’s past, including its time stranded in the Falkland Islands.

Along the way, little explorers can spot different penguin characters, from the mighty Emperor Penguin to the quirky Rockhopper, making this both a fun and educational Easter activity.

You can also make a full day of it by upgrading to the Go Aloft experience, where you can climb the rigging for incredible views, or visit the Ocean Photographer of the Year exhibition (1st April – 28th June 2026), showcasing stunning marine photography.

Spring is in the air with an exciting lineup of fun for kids of all ages. Alongside their daily Easter Egg Hunt (10am–5pm), children can meet the Easter Bunny on selected dates, enjoy live performances from Adam Allsortz and the Mad Hatter Magic Show, take part in cookie decorating workshops, and get up close to our animals. Big Easter Adventure at Bowood House

When: Saturday 28th – Sunday 12th April 2026, 10:30am – 17:30pm (last admissions 16:30).

Ten giant eggs are hidden around the grounds on a brand-new trail route. Six of the large eggs each hold a letter — find them all and unscramble the letters to reveal the mystery word. Next, find the remaining four giant eggs, each featuring a riddle. Solve them all, then hop over to Admissions to claim a chocolate treat!

Easter-themed Arts and Crafts’ will be available on select dates throughout the event. Try out the adventure playground and explore the beautiful gardens.
